Sephiròth: Level 71

DateWednesday, November 19, 2008 at 01:19AM | AuthorAllakazzaror | CommentYour Thoughts?

A few exciting things have happenned since my last post. First and most obvious is that I got to 71. Only reason I'm posting now instead of when I hit 72 is because I have some homework to do before I have to get to bed. Like Froggins, I've got exams comming up so I can't be playing all day long, but I try to squeeze in as much time as I can. On the bright side, I'm 80% into 71, so I'll probably be 72 by tomorrow.

I did my first instance in WotLK yesterday, The Nexus, and I thought it was pretty badass. Unfortunatley, I forgot to take screenshots, so I don't have any goodies for you, but I can tell you that its really fun. None of the bosses were too tricky and it didn't take very long to finish, just under an hour. Here is a quick synopsis:

Trash: Easy trash for the most part... Kill healers first, and later in, kill Rifts first, they spawn ads.

Grand Magus Telestra:This was the only boss we wiped on, and it was a bitch of a fight when we suceeded. She starts off easy, with a twist. She does a Ice Nova which looks like a hunter ice trap, but hits everyone and deals about 2k damage. She also does a pretty cool move called Gravity Well which is like Death Grip, the DK move, but it just bounces you around and deals 75 damage each time you bounce. It's unavoidable but it doesn't do much damage so its not much of a concern. Then, she splits into 3 at 50%, this is the tough part. The purple one is arcane, and casts Time Stop and Polymorph: Critter. The blue one is frost and casts Ice Barb and Blizzard. The red one is fire and casts Fire Blast and Scorch. All DPS focus down one at a time, while the tank tanks one of them. DPS burns down the other 2 and when the third one dies, Magus reappears and its back to normal.

Trash: This trash is annoying at best. There are little tree guys that respawn in like 1 minute, so they keep popping up and aggroing people while they drink and rez... its not too bad though.

Ormorok the Tree-Shaper: I thought this guy was fun. He's is essentially tank and spank, but he has one move that changes it up. It's called Crystal Spikes. If any of you remember Ahune the Frost Lord from the holiday event, it's like that, only more. You see them moving out from him and then the ground rumbles in certain spots. Get off the rumbling spots. After a second, the rumbling turns into a giant spike and oyu get thrown up in the air and take like 3k damage. My group was retarded, so I was the only one not to get spiked. Topped the DPS meter :)

Trash: This trash is a little tough, but if you remember to kill the Rifts first, you'll do fine. The rifts spawn lightning dudes or something... basically more adds to deal with. Just kill them first.

Anomalus: Giant arcane dude... Every now and then, he makes Rifts like from the trash. Kill them quickly, then get back on the boss. Thats it for this guy, he's pretty easy.

Trash: I honestly don't remember this trash... I know it wasn't anything special though :P

Keristrasza: This is a giant dragon that you assist is a quest chain in Coldara. To start the fight, you have to activate the 3 orbs around her. This releases Keristrasza from the Ice Block that Malygos put her in at the end of that quest chain I mentioned. This fiht has some very interesting aspects to it. First of all, she has normal Dragon attacks, both a Tail Sweep and a frontal cone attack. On top of that, you recieve a debuff throughout the fight that reduces you attack and cast speed by 10%, stacking up to 9 times, and also dealing 100 Frost damage per second. Here's the catch though... movement removes the debuff. Basically to avoid this damage, keep moving throughout the fight. Yea that means Hunters, Mages, Boomkins, Warlocks and the like... you're screwed. Expect to be on the bottom of th emeter because of how much you have to move. She also does Crystal Chains which roots you in place for up to 10 seconds. I never got chained, so I'm not sure if you keep getting the DoT while rooted, but you can use a PvP trinket to get out of it if you are worried or undergeared.

At the end of the run, I left with Chiseled Stalagmite Pauldrons a big upgrade from some piece of crap green quest reward shoulders I was using earlier. I was happy to say the least.

I also scrounged together enough to buy my Flying Mount and training, to learn that I don't get to fly in Outland until level 77... it made me sad :(  I'll post pics later for your visual enjoyment!

Check back again later for more updates! I'll probably post again when I hit 73 with an update about Utgarde Keep!

P.S. Change your votez, I r almoast 8 levels ahead of Froggins!!!

My Life As A Death Knight: Level 64

DateTuesday, November 18, 2008 at 06:25PM | AuthorFrogins | CommentYour Thoughts?

I know, I know... I broke the promise but posting daily. I'm still gonna be busy all week (lots and lots of exams), so expect more post in the following week and after. Nothing big happened during my journey in Outland. Got to 64 and half way to 65. Best loot so far was Blade of Misfortune which is a pretty decent upgrade from the starter DK blade. Blood seems to be the best for soloing right now with all the healing abilities and that will be my spec until I start raiding.

Quested the whole time with upgrades from time to time. Bought a few things from AH to speed up the process a little.

Glyph of Death Strike - Great glyph for soloing. Waiting for somebody to Auction off another good glyph...

Scroll of Enchant Weapon - Crusader - Planning to enchant that on the next 2H-Sword upgrade.

4x Heavy Knothide Armor Kit & Clefthide Leg Armor - Will use them when seem appropriate.

I also bought some potions such as Greater Stoneshield Potion & Onslaught Elixir for "group" boss fights so I can solo it instead.

I've been thinking for a while about trying a Alliance Death Knight after Frogins gets to 80. Which server should I do that on? Which race should I be?

November 16: Days 2-4

DateSunday, November 16, 2008 at 06:31PM | AuthorAllakazzaror | CommentYour Thoughts?

I apologize for not posting yesterday, but the last 3 days have honestly been merged into one. I stayed up all of last night leveling and only took a short nap from 10-11, then 2-3. My hard work has been paying off a little bit though, as I made my way up the levels and now i've moved my way into Northrend. Finally, I'm out of Outlands... I thought I'd never finish Outlands. I've leveled there three times now, and I don't plan on leveling another character ever again, thats how much I hate Outlands now. I finished out Outland on Friday and Saturday and took my first look at Northrend, heading into Borean Tundra. So far Borean Tundra is pretty badass. I killed a bunch of Nerubains, drowned some mist-creating sailor dudes and gotten MAJOR upgrades.

Now my character sits at 70, and I've stuck with Blood so far, and I don't think I'll go unholy at this point. I tried it on beta and I didn't really like the rotation. It was too reliant on your diseases and when I roll up against frost/shadow immune mobs who I can't hit with either Icy Touch or Plague Strike, I'm glad that I rolled Blood. Even with only one disease up, my Death Strikes heal me for enough to take on most 2 man group quests. Above, you can see me riding a drake towards The Nexus. For once, there is a snowy zone to level in. Don't talk to me about Winterspring, that's a terrible zone, it doesn't count.

On the other hand, its good to know that Blizzard still has no clue what they are doing. I was running to head down the elevator in Warsong Hold and I thought I just barely caught it. Alas, when I landed, I fell through the elevator a little, and was standing on the inside of it. When it went down, I was left floating there... Death Knight my ass... I'm totally a flying death ghost dude, so much cooler.

Life as a Death Knight: First Day

DateFriday, November 14, 2008 at 04:25PM | AuthorFrogins | CommentYour Thoughts?

Just got the CE of WotLK and finished the installation process of it a minute ago. The goodies that came with it is well worth that extra $30 in my opinion.

EST 4:37 - Character, Frogins created on Altar Of Storms.

EST 4:39 - I see the Lich King.

EST 6:52 - Taking a break due to motion sickness...

EST 7:05 - Back!

EST 7:31 - Mailed some stuff I've prepared for my DK from my rogue.

EST 7:41 - Doing a Meeting With Fate. Looks pretty epic.

EST 8:35 - Done with Death Knight Starter Quests! Before and After...

Sephiròth, Thursday Nov 13

DateThursday, November 13, 2008 at 09:11PM | AuthorAllakazzaror | CommentYour Thoughts?

Well, as you can see above, I have been at it for a while now, and I'm up to level 62 already. That's my baby up there! After grabbing my copy last night, I installed it on the way home and finished it when I got here, then jumped right into leveling around 12:30 or 1:00 AM. Got to 61, then decided to take a power nap at 7:30, before my class at 12. As soon as I got back from class, I jumped back in and now I'm 62, almoast 63.

Not much has changed from beta, the talent trees are all the same to my knowledge and I'm using the same rotation to do most of the quests. It might have must been a little while, but it seems like my moves are hitting a little weaker though. Not too much to be a serious problem, but soloing some of the 2 man group quests was a little trickier than it was in the beta. Maybe I'm just a little rusty :)

I dumped a little gold in to get myself 4 glyphs while I had my DK in Thrallmar. I hopped on my druid and bought the Glyph of Death Strike, Glyph of Pestilence, Glyph of Horn of Winter, and Glyph of Plague Strike and sent them to my DK. I'd highly suggest getting these 4 if you are leveling a DK of your own, in particular the Death Strike Glyph. It basically increases how much Death Strike heals you for, which has saved me a few times when I pulled too many mobs. Pop Vampiric Blood when you have full diseases up and full runic power, then when you hit Death Strike it'll heal you for a good 25% of your health, noncrit. Crit I'd say it heals for easily 60% of your health. Gamechanger in pvp as well.

For now, its time to get 63, then do some homework. I'll prolly finish that around 10 and get right back into leveling. I hope to get at least 65 by the end of the night. Come back tomorrow for another update!

P.S. Froggins hasn't even STARTED leveling yet!!! I'm totally gonna win! Might as well change your votes now :P

Froggins gets a run for his money...

DateWednesday, November 12, 2008 at 09:39PM | AuthorAllakazzaror | CommentYour Thoughts?

Well, its been a while since I have posted, mainly because not much new has been happening. After 3.0.2 came out, I spent a while playing on my live character, a balance druid, loving the new changes to live. Then, right when I started to get back into the WotLK Beta, they made the announcement that the Beta servers would be taken offline, so I couldn't do any more leveling. R.I.P. Allakazzaror, lvl 65 Death Knight... we will miss your pwnage.

It has come to my attention that someone isn't a true WoW fan and won't be getting his copy of WotLK at midnight like the rest of the WoW fans.. or fanatics, one of the two. I am going to great lengths to get to a GameStop to get my copy tonight. I don't have car OR a bike here at college, and my only friend with a car has a test to study for. Luckily, another one of my friends is lending me his bike... as soon as 11PM hits, I'll begin my epic 5 mile journey to GameStop, grab my copy, get home in about half the time because I'm pedaling so fast, and have a good 12 and a half hours of play until my first class tomorrow afternoon. I hope to get to 60 before class, then at least 65 before the next day.

Like Froggins, I will try to post daily updates on my Death Knight, so that you can start making accurate votes for who will get a DK to 80 first. In case you didn't know, you can change your vote at any time by clicking on the "Change Vote" button underneath the current standings.

If any of you want to get in contact with me in-game, I play on Boulderfist. My druid's name is Allakazzaror, and I'm not sure what to name my Death Knight at this point. Feel free to respond to this post and give me some input as to what to name him. On the one hand fawkinpawnage will probably get banned, and makes my name sound like a 3 year old trying to say Falcon Punch (tribute to Super Smash Brothers). On the other hand, AllaDeathKnight is too long to fit into my usually naming scheme for my alts, e.g. Allarogue, Allalock, Allamage. I'll have to have a serious sit down to make up my mind.

Stay tuned for daily updates now that Lich King will be live very shortly.

When is Wrath playable?

DateWednesday, November 12, 2008 at 05:08PM | AuthorFrogins | CommentYour Thoughts?

According to WoW Insider, a Blue Poster, Snydri announced that Wrath of the Lich King will be playable at 9:00pm PST/12:00 EST on all North American and Oceanic realms. And some lucky European players is already trying out their Death Knights. Hopefully there's a downloadable version of WotLK waiting for me on official WoW site so I can join in the fun without the wait.

I will be posting My Life as a Death Knight on a daily basis (No promises). Blogging on my progress, ideas, opinions and questions. So remember to check back often!

So many things is going through my head right now. Can I be the 1st 80 DK on my server? How should I gear my DK? Will I be pouring too much of my time on my DK? Will I miss out on something for not going to a Midnight launch?

The wait is finally over! WOTLK FTW!

Update: For those experiencing bugged DK creation, WoW Insider have a great post on the solution.
